Healthy Guilt Free Banana Nut Bread!!!!

Hello gorgies!!
It’s that time of the year where everyone wants to get fit. In my years of being involved in the industry one things certain, nutrition plays a huge role in your weight loss/fitness goals. I believe it’s ok to indulge in all your favorite things in moderation but for those that want a nice guiltless treat, you have got to try Banana Nut Bread!!!! Amaze-balls! lol

Ingredients:

45g Oat Flour
45g Coconut Flour
120g Vanilla protein powder
1 Cup Stevia sweetener baking powder
3 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1 tsp Baking powder
1 tsp Baking Soda
1⁄2 tsp Salt
2 oz Nuts (optional)
-Pecans, walnuts, or almonds 4 oz Raisins (optional)
3 Medium bananas
4 oz Plain non-fat Greek yogurt 4 oz Applesauce, unsweetened 4 oz Egg Whites
4 oz Almond milk, unsweetened 3 tsp Vanilla extract
1⁄4 tsp Apple cider vinegar
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Mix your wet ingredients in one bowl and your dry ingredients in another bowl. Use a mixer/blender/ whisk to mix together the wet ingredients. Slowly add in the dry ingredients. Spray two loaf pans with non-stick cooking spray, fill with batter, and bake on 350°F for around 25-30 minutes (ours took 40 minutes due to oven so keep an eye on it) or until it looks done. (Do the toothpick test.) Let cool and enjoy!

I decided to film as I got ready for work and decided to try a couple new products. The Ecotools Airbrush Concealer Brush and The Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate. I’ve actually never used a cream contour and I don’t know why because I absolutely looooove it!! I did go over it with a matte bronzer but loved it for sculpting.

Why I decided to run a half.

I made the decision to run my first Half Marathon in December!! EEEEK I’m sooooo nervous. I know a lot of you probably follow me from my IFBB Bikini Pro competition days but I wanted to try something new that I could do to be competitive that had a bit of a challenge and didn’t require the type of dieting I used to do.

A little background on my running. When I was 15, I decided to join the Cross Country team because I wanted to join some sort of athletic team. I had no running background and to be honest I didn’t really know what I was in for. When I think of me running CC in high school, only bad memories come to mind. I had the worst Shin Splints, I was the worst on the team (LITERALLY), and I was the joke of the team. At my first race, I took off in a dead sprint not knowing about pacing yourself and came in dead last. (please don’t laugh….. Ok maybe a little). I was usually the last person at CC meets. What I didn’t know then, that I realized years later, was that it was all mental. What I also learned is that if you start off slow and slowly start doing it more often, you get better. It doesn’t get easier. You just get better and stronger. I only did CC that year and never went back.

After high school, when I started getting into my serious training mode, (that will have to be another personal blog in the future) I started running again but on a treadmill. There was no pressure, I had awesome music, and I went at my own pace. I started running more than 3 miles and my pace also started getting faster. For the first time in my life, I discovered “Runner’s High”. That’s actually when I fell in love with running. But who am I kidding? Sometimes I have days where I’m off and hate it.

When I started doing fitness competitions, my coach and I realized that running was the best way for me to get in shape. So for years I have ran but the longest I have ever ran was 8 miles. I did it at the Turkey Trot a few years back with my hubby. It was amazing to know that I could finish 8 miles without stopping. Crossing the finish line with my best friend/soulmate/partner in life holding hands was so euphoric for me.

So here I am at my 5th week of training for my half marathon with 12 weeks to go. I decided to do it that far away so that I felt ready for it. I want to be able to cross that finish line the way I did when I crossed the 8 miler and also with a faster pace.

I’ve already posted about it on Facebook, but I want to share some of the supplements and accessories that I’m using to keep me healthy.

Week of #awesomeness

Hey y’all what up?!?!?!

I have had a great week so far and I must say it has been a pretty busy one. Sometimes staying motivated with whatever you are trying to be disciplined with can be tough. In my case, I wanted to keep my motivation high with my workouts and nutrition but all while allowing myself to enjoy hanging out with friends. I decided to grab a buddy all week! A few of the days I worked out with my hubby who is doing the Bodybuilding.com 12 week Transformation Challenge, I invited my girl Danny J to try Core Fusion Barre and a cycle class at Flywheel Sports, and I brought my girl Layne to a social run. Inviting friends not only helps me stay motivated but it makes me have fun with fitness. It’s not like another day at the gym where you are dreading to go. Instead, I was stoked. It’s also a great way to hang out with friends without neglecting workouts. I must say that after hanging out with Danny I have learned something important that she has mentioned…. to have fun with fitness. I truly feel that’s what I have been doing lately.

I keep an Awesome journal where I write something that was awesome in my day on a daily basis. Because I can be forgetful, I have set a reminder on my phone every night at 9pm to ask me what was awesome about my day. It allows me to think about it if I don’t get a chance to write it in my journal. With that being said, I wanted to share with you some of the Awesome things that I experienced last week.

* I stayed committed to being healthy- Yoga, Flywheel Sports Cycle, Social Run, and eating clean.

* I spent time with new friends and old friends.

* I bought a new yoga mat- I always used the ones that the studio provided and since I have been practicing more I wanted to invest in a nice yoga mat.

* I had a full day date with my husband.

*I was able to do a free giveaway from Bodybuilding.com through my Youtube channel. I am excited that Bodybuilding.com allows me to do things like this because I know it helps with others that can’t afford these things but would like to try the products.

* I walked my puppies in the nice sunny weather. I love sunny days!

* I joined a kickball league.

Okay so enough about me… what about you? Anything awesome happen to you? It can be having green lights all day or being able to sleep in. Writing these little notes has allowed me to look at any day in the best way possible. So if your going through tough times right now I challenge you to keep an Awesome Journal…. I really think it can help!

My goals for this week are to be more present and aware of my surroundings. By this I mean putting down the phone when I am in the car with my husband,enjoy the scenery, and appreciating our quality time together. We live in a world where we are disconnected and I really want to connect better with my inner self and surroundings.

Olympia Weekend and Pix

Hello World!

I am back from Sin City got back early this morning at about 12:30 am. Woke up this morning and was back on the day to day grind. I have been hydrating all day with my favorite Zico Pure Premium Coconut Water!! I just finished at work and am pretty exhausted. Here are some pics and a little recap of Olympia weekend. I had a blast!

Wednesday: I arrived to Vegas and as soon as I landed I realized I left all my fish and chicken at home in the fridge minus my days worth of food. Thankfully I brought my mini George Foreman grill with me and cooked in my hotel room. I almost didn’t bring it with me this time too! So for future reference you might want to bring your mini Foremans in just in case this happens to you. I then did some cardio with my teammate Alea and got a good sweat on! Is it me, or whenever you know your closer to show time your cardio is much harder? Thats how I felt! But I did it;)

Thursday: Went to check ins midday! I love the fact that we get “Olympia” jackets! Feel like a BAMF wearing them hehe! Also my sponsor Bodybuilding.com surprised me and fellow teammates Alicia Harris and Ali Rosen with our hoodies that had our name embroidered in the front! It was very nice of them. I got to reunite with my manager J.M. Manion and the rest of my FMG team right before “Meet the Olympians” meeting. I had such a great time here. I remember my first time going to the “meet the Olympians” back when I first turned pro and being so inspired by all the pros. I couldn’t wait until the day I was sitting behind those tables signing autographs. I got teary eyed because I had some sweet girls come up to me and tell me I was all over their vision boards and that I inspire them. It is such a rewarding feeling to know that I can inspire people all over the world. I want to continue to do this and let others know that they too can do anything if they set their minds to it. I feel that if I have the voice to do it then why not?

The Ladies of FMG

After “Meet The Olympians” I walked right by these yummy smelling candy apples! Omg SERIOUSLY! Did they have to put this out there on the way to our hotel rooms? haha

Friday: Show time! LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! hehe This was the show day. Although I didn’t place I had an amazing time with all the girls backstage and onstage. For me it is just an honor to be on that Olympia stage! I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to place but sometimes you win sometimes you don’t. As long as I had a great experience is all that matters to me! I was very happy for my coach for winning her 6th Fitness Olympia and for Alea being in the top 15 her first Figure Olympia! These ladies are wonderful and talented and deserve it!

After prejudging I always Look forward to seeing my hubby right around the corner to surprise me! I love him so much he supports me in all of my shows!

The funnest part is being backstage with the girls sharing stories, ( I wont go into what we talked about at this one haha) indulging in goodies, and taking pics;)

Saturday: This day was fun as well! I got to do a signing with fellow team athlete Ali Rosen at noon! It makes me feel good when even guys come up to me for workout advice. Ali and I always have so much fun together when we get the chance to work together. We always get glammed up together before work. It is now our ritual to get glamified together before any bodybuilding.com event;) Love her mucho! At night I went and supported Alea at Figure Finals followed by the Olympia Gala where I hung out with more FMG sistas!

Sunday: Last day in Sin City.I got to sleep in and man did it feel good! Me and Chris had brunch with Alea and her husband Aziel at the cutest place called Serendipity 3. It was cute, pink, and had hello kitty everywhere! I didn’t take pics with my camera but as soon as I get them from Alea I will post them! We had a mini feast there not going to lie and it was good and deserving!

All in all I feel happy that I got to grace the Olympia stage for a second year in a row now. Next weekend is my bridal shower in Austin so this week I am getting ready for that. I hope my dress comes in time! eeekkkk! Keep put I will post pics from the bridal shower for my next blog!
